Design Analysis
I had many months to do this simple essay.. yet of course I left it right to the last minute. And I literally mean last minute. Waking up at 4:30 in the morning to start and finish it before the midday deadline :P go me.
But to be honest I think I've actually done a pretty good job :D I'll be pretty stoked if I manage a B for my early morning rant about form and function haha.
Well maybe I'll post it once I've handed it in, so.. in about 5 or so hours :D
Seriously though, I really need to do the work as soon as I've been given it. I'm kinda over all the stress I put on myself :P
Looking forward to our new paper starting next week though! 3 solid weeks of just that project. The whole design process from start to finish. It's gonna be intense but since I can't put it off for several months I'm sure I will thoroughly enjoy it! Will def have to post my progress. It'll help me keep up to date with this blog too.
Anyway, will leave it with this :) om nom nom nom

Vernacular
In order for designers to be able to take a critical view of contemporary life (we) need to find a place to speak from within culture, and not position ourselves outside or above it.
Why do we use vernacular?
-spontaneous, unpretentious voice
-an aura of authenticity
-a connection with youth culture
-an association with subculture
-nostalgic appreciation of history

Just Because
Already I am getting side-tracked from doing my work...
Re-reading and re-watching my favourite :D
Well I could just say that this is inspiration for my designs.. and by reading/watching I am actually doing homework.. yes homework..
Studio Zero 2012
At the start of the year as an introduction for the new year at polytech we have a fun project to do. Cert, yr 1s, yr 2s and 3rds yrs get put into groups and given a mystery material which we then have to upcycle into something wearable and fashion forward. Last year it was jeans and this year we were given school kilts. Much to my surprise it was the same material as my old school kilts at AshCol. so i had a nostalgic moment or two throughout that week haha. Anyway, each team were given two kilts and this is was the result :
Don't I make a good model ...
Psssshhh!
Oh and just for laughs, here is a photo from last years studio zero.
(I'm the one awkwardly standing with the Jean Bodysuit.. why did I agree to model that??)
Keeping On Track
Hello all
As I am ridiculously bad at falling behind in my work I am hoping that keeping this blog up and running might help to rectify the problem. Ha.
I think if I make this my 2nd "workbook" then if I can't quite get all my work done in the physical book I can at least link my blog to my lecturers to show them that yes I do do my work.
And for my first post?
Well for FD2 we are working on tailored designing so here is a bunch of fall 2012 fashion shows that took my fancy ~
Blumarine
Love the silver!
Givenchy
Viktor & Rolf
Ann Demeulmeester
Alrighty
I think I will also try to upload my sketches, design ideas, moodboards, etc.
Until next time ~
